Search for radio-continuum emission from galactic O-type and Wolf-Rayet stars off the plane
A study was made at radio wavelengths to detect continuum emission fromseveral O-type and Wolf-Rayet type stars and of any associated nebula,located off the galactic plane. Within a radius of 10 arcmin in eachfield of view, the authors found typically only one unrelated backgroundradio source with a continuum flux density stronger than 10 mJy at?20.5 cm.
| H II regions surrounding high galactic latitude O stars
Scans of H-alpha and the N II 6584 A forbidden line were obtained indirections toward 13 O stars that have galactic latitudes greater than10 deg, and z distances between 60 pc and 1000 pc. The associated H IIregions have emission measures that range from 500/cm to the 6th pc toless than 2/cm to the 6th pc, and radii that extend from about 20 pc tomore than 200 pc from the star. The derived rms electron densities forthese regions range from about 3/cu cm for absolute z values lower than100 pc to less than 0.1/cu cm for absolute z values greater than 600 pc.
